Frequently Asked Questions

What is the West Coast student experience like at Elon?

You’ve come to the right place for that answer! Connect with one of our West Coast Ambassadors, who can speak with you about their Elon experience; what they’ve loved, what’s been hard, and what it was like to move to North Carolina from the West.  Between the student ambassadors and our West Coast based ϰϲʹ Counselors, we’re confident you can understand why so many students call Elon, home.  Read about what other West Coasters have said about their Elon experience.

How is North Carolina culture different from the West Coast?

Southern hospitality is no urban legend. Expect to meet lots of people who will want to know your story, and plenty of passersby who will say “hello” as you walk around campus. Elon students are from all over the United States and various corners of the globe, so you’ll experience many different cultures on campus.

How many West Coast students are enrolled at Elon?

Every year, we enroll between 30-50 students from the West Coast into Elon’s incoming first year class.

How do I get to campus from the airport?

The nearest major airport is Greensboro’s Piedmont Triad International (GSO), which is just 30 minutes from campus. Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU) is also convenient; it’s a 50-minute drive from Elon. Shuttles run from Elon to both airports, and you can easily catch a ride back to campus after holidays or when classes begin.

How is Elon growing its presence on the West Coast?

Elon is committed to developing a strong foundation on the West Coast. We have created more options for our alumni to connect and network with others in the West Coast Elon community. For the last decade Elon in LA, the university’s year-round internship program, has helped students connect with alumni and companies on the West Coast. As these programs grow, the university will continue its investment in alumni, families and students living in those areas.

Can I take a virtual tour?

In addition to in-person campus visits, we offer to prospective students.

If you can’t make it to campus for a visit or you just want to see our campus again, watch our video tour.

Is a campus map available online?

We have several different maps available to help you get to know Elon.
