Fraternity and Sorority Councils

Fraternity and sorority involvement can provide you with an invaluable experience during your time at └¤░─├┼┴¨║¤▓╩╣┘═°. Fraternities and sororities have existed as an Elon tradition for over 80 years. The fraternity and sorority community provides brotherhood and sisterhood for over 2,500 men and women every year. Approximately 38% of undergraduate students at Elon are members of the fraternity and sorority community, which is comprised of 26 Greek-letter organizations. Three student-run councils govern these organizations: the Interfraternity Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Panhellenic Association.┬áIn addition to their individual functions, the councils often collaborate on initiatives and programs designed to enhance the experience of all members of the fraternity and sorority community.

Interfraternity Council

Interfraternity CouncilThe └¤░─├┼┴¨║¤▓╩╣┘═° Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing organization for nine member fraternities, and one associate member fraternity. This organization provides educational programming, risk management policies and procedures, and academic scholarships to men of the member fraternities at Elon.

National Pan-Hellenic Council

National Pan-Hellenic CouncilThe Elon National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the governing organization for seven historically African-American fraternities and sororities. Its purpose is to create and maintain high standards in the life of fraternities and sororities; perpetuate constructive fraternity and sorority relationships; foster an understanding of the structure and method of operation among the affiliate organizations; address, coordinate and develop action strategies of mutual concern to the affiliate organizations; and serve as the conduit for such action plans as may be developed. └¤░─├┼┴¨║¤▓╩╣┘═° is very fortunate to be the home of seven of the nine NPHC organizations. Our collegiate NPHC helps govern the seven chapters and brings them together for service, communication and creating equity. Their goal is to help create and maintain the high standards and expectations that come with being a member of a fraternity or sorority and perpetuate the lifetime commitment one agrees to upon initiation.

Panhellenic Association

Panhellenic AssociationThe National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is the conference of women’s private fraternities and sororities, having all undergraduate chapters in accredited colleges and universities. It is a delicate body that is made up of 26 inter/national organizations. The Elon Panhellenic Association (PA) consists of nine NPC organizations and one associate member sorority. Delegates from these chapters, along with an executive committee, make up the Panhellenic Association. The Panhellenic Association sets campus guidelines for sororities and is responsible for coordinating programs such as women’s issues week, Week of the Scholar, and various philanthropy events.
